Poolside Wardrobe
Ok, it’s summer time and hopefully your agenda includes a work out or two…and what I mean when I say workout of course is lifting a few margaritas or doing some lounging – not lunges- by the pool.
Along with carefree days, summer ushers in lots of invites from friends to pool side parties or roof top soirees. Follow these style guidelines and even in the most oppressive summer heat you will remain cool as a cucumber with these simple tips:
Tips for her:
- Select an airy summer dress. Don’t think that your options are limited to a swimsuit. Instead opt for one of the various summer dress options and wear your swimsuit underneath or coordinate a swimsuit with a pair of shorts and complimentary top for instant style.
- Stock up on sarongs. Sarongs make even the simplest bathing suit look chic and sophisticated. Select one or two colors that will go with most of your swimsuits or opt for black, khaki or white for more versatility.
- Don’t go without a chapeau. It’s likely that you will be outdoors for several hours so grab a straw hat in a fedora for a more laid-back look or a wide-brimmed version for extra sun protection.
- Go for the glamour factor – the caftan. Nothing says glamour like a long caftan. There are many vintage options to choose from and this modern version by Jean Paul Gaultier will put you on the receiving in of compliments for summers to come.
Tips for him:
- Update the traditional shorts and t-shirt look. Instead of pairing cargo shorts with any old t-shirt select a more modern option by wearing a graphic printed Henley- the perfect combination of style and comfort.
- Select the unexpected. Steer clear of the basics and go for swim trunks in a print like paisley or florals.
- Jeepers peepers. Show your personality be selecting sunglasses that are a reflection of your personal style. Go traditional, take a more modern approach or select performance eyewear that speaks to your style.
Happy summer!
