This week was Social Media Week’s Miami invasion. The global event included a series of conversations and panel discussions around emerging trends in social media and their impact on major industries around the world.

I popped into the fashion media session which featured some of Miami’s most stylish bloggers and fashion industry insiders to talk about the impact of social media on Miami’s fashion scene. The event attracted a New York Fashion Week worthy crowd of boutique owners, publicists and designers who shared their thoughts on the direction of Miami’s fashion industry and ways to strengthen the city’s fashion scene through more fashion events, collaborations and stronger brand relationships. The panelists included Maria Arguello, Refinery29 (@mari7305) ; Erika Thomas, Blah Blah Blonde (@itsmeerikat); Annie Vasquez, The Fashion Poet (@anniecvazquez); Lizmarys Duthil, Miss Mean Shoes(@LizmarysDuthill); and Carmen Ordonez, Viva Fashion (@VivaFashion).

It was a pleasure meeting many of Miami’s fashion elite and hearing their predictions about what’s next for the industry. The verdict – a fashion future that looks sunny and bright.
